In 2011, I took over the editorial design responsibilities of HCN's art director while she was on sabbatical, and also helped with cover packages the summer of 2012 while the publication's art department was down an employee. This included working closely with editors, photographers and sources to compile art that best illustrated the stories.
These represent a sampling of the work I did there.
This is some of my older design work from when I was on the (now defunct) Rocky Mountain News design desk. While there, I worked with a team of award-winning editors, reporters, designers and photographers and learned many of the skills — content integration, collaboration and teamwork, typography, etc. — that I carry into my projects today.
I created a set of new banner options for the blog sevenlittlemexicans.com. The blog's owner let her readers vote for their favorite. The one at the top (slightly altered from the mocked version) ended up the winner.
